The Buzz...

Reflection:
For this project, I worked as both a photographer and videographer for Vantage Customs, a client I had collaborated with previously. Going into the shoot, I understood the importance of delivering a professional service and building upon the standard I had already set in earlier work. There was a clear expectation—not only from the client but also from myself—to improve and refine my approach.

I made a conscious effort to organise and coordinate the shoot effectively, applying the skills I had developed throughout my year at university. From planning timings to considering shot composition and workflow, I approached the project with a more structured and confident mindset. During this process, I discovered that I thrive in positions where I can take control and apply my skills within a professional environment. Being able to direct the shoot allowed me to work more efficiently and ensured that I could achieve a strong final outcome.

A key part of the shoot was coordinating everything around the weather and time of day. I planned carefully to make the most of the available natural light, aiming to enhance the overall aesthetic of the build. This is particularly evident in the final images, where the golden hour lighting adds warmth and depth, complementing the van and elevating the visual quality of the project. Paying attention to these details made a significant difference in the final result.

Throughout the shoot, I felt much more confident in balancing client expectations with my own creative input. Compared to previous projects, I was more proactive in making decisions and guiding the process, which ultimately led to a smoother and more productive shoot.

Behind the scenes:
I wasn’t able to capture much behind-the-scenes content during this project, as my primary focus was on delivering both photography and videography to a high standard. Managing both roles meant prioritising the final output over additional coverage, although this is something I would aim to plan for more effectively in future shoots.

Overall, the project was a great success, and the client was very impressed with the outcome. It is a piece of work that I am proud to include in my portfolio and one that I feel represents my growth as both a photographer and videographer. Moving forward, I aim to continue building on this experience and further develop my ability to lead and execute high-quality creative projects.
